• The library staff and I are so proud that the number of book clubs in our area continues to grow! This is proof that, despite the supposed decline in reading, our Northwoods communities still appreciate the value of the written and spoken word.

• One staff member, with occasional help, orders and processes items for 17 local book clubs, most of which are year-round. We find the job especially interesting because we're able to see books our library may not have and may need to order, we keep in touch with books our community likes to read (not necessarily the best sellers) and we meet so many good people who share our love of books.

• The library's mission is to promote education, information and lifelong learning. However, we must meet this mission within the confines of our funding and budget. We are happy to continue ordering titles for the established book clubs in our area. For the time being though, if you are a member of a new book club and live in a nearby town, we suggest that you order from your home library. Area libraries such as Cable, Drummond and Winter are all part of the same library system (Northern Waters Library Service) we belong to and are able to order books for you. This wiki was created as an online meeting place for local book clubs to assist them with book requests placed through the Weiss Community Library with book club group coordination. Please note: The library doesn't run any book clubs, but we do order and process the books. Reminder: If items are not picked up within seven (7) days, the automation system clears them automatically and they are sent on to the next patron or back to the owning library.
